The main street through the middle of Castiglione del Lago in Umbria, italy is lined with restaurants, shops, delicatessens, bars and ice cream parlours. So it is not suprising that most pedestrians are looking at shop windows rather than looking up at what is above. But, by not doing so they miss out on an architectural treat. Looking Up shows the roof line and wonderful architecture that sits above the street in this very popular tourist town. We can see a traditional porch cover with wooden supports and a terracotta roof, a balcony with ornate metal work, the overhang of the roofs and in the distance a gorgeous bell tower that looks out over the town.
