This image of a lone cyclist was made near the Jan Waaijer Bridge in Zoetermeer. The bridge connects the Westerpark with the Nieuwe Driemanspolder and is named after former mayor of Zoetermeer Jan Waaijer. The bridge was designed by architects Syb van Breda & Co. The inspiration for the bridge what the work "Het Laantje van Middelharnis" by 17th century landscape painter Meindert Hobbema. The thin trees that flanked Hobbema's lane have been replaced by round-roofed lampposts. The image of an airborne bridge flanked by metal trees gives a futuristic look. A passing cyclist adds dynamism to the picture.
