This beautiful market was once a classic marketplace for cheese, poultry and wool, among other things, and its history stretches back to the 14th century.
It was destroyed after the Great Fire of London in 1666 and was rebuilt and restored again and again until 1991, even after the destruction caused by the Second World War.
