Paxos. A pearl in the Greek Ionian Sea. Loved by many visitors who take good care of nature and love it. Islanders who love originality and total tranquility. The brave little island once created by the Greek God Poseidon is not yet spoiled nor overrun by mass tourism simply because there is nothing to find in mass entertainment.
In Greek mythology, Poseidon is the god of water, sea, horses and earthquakes. He is one of the Olympic gods and the brother of the supreme god Zeus. The god is known for his stiff character and for the trident (trident) he always holds in his hand. The trident he gets from the cyclops (one-eyed giants) and is therefore the symbol of Paxos. Incidentally, the Roman equivalent of the deity is Neptune.
Since my first visit to Paxos in 1987, I ended up in the fishing village of Loggos. Since then I have been going there regularly. The island is small but offers a surprising number of fun and intersting sites. I have been inspired there by the beautiful bays, olive groves, quaint villages, abandoned windmills and local cottages. The painting you see here concerns the village of Loggos by the harbor. All are tavernas where delicious authentic Greek food and local drinks can be enjoyed.
