Fortunately, we have lamps nowadays, but it is still unbelievable that real fire used to be stoked in these towers. Yet shipping still cannot do without them even though by now every ship has navigation on board. In addition, it is a good landmark, even for people on land. Nowadays you are sometimes allowed in and up there, enjoying the beautiful view. Special buildings they are!

My fond memories of lighthouses made me decide to create this illustration. I chose to make it a bit more dramatic by drawing big pile of clouds with it. After all, as a nature lover, nothing beats big waves and a rough sea. Which, by the way, is only fun when you're safely on land, of course.

Each line was hand drawn with marker and later computer processed to create this image with beige background. There are two more versions in a similar style. These can be found in my personal shop in the 'illustrations' folder. They are titled 'walking in the mountains' and 'field with cows among the mountains'.

The line drawings are generally black lines on a colored background. A lot is possible in Photoshop and I can easily adjust it for you. Do you prefer the lines or just the background in a different color? This could be because it looks nicer to you or because it has to match a special color in the interior?
