It stands near Oostmahorn, on the Frisian side of the Lauwersmeer. It is not actually a lighthouse; it is a gauge intended to read the water level. This gauge served from 1935 to 1969. Now it is a nautical monument (and a photogenic object). I took the photo on an early January morning. The sun was just rising and shining in the drops on the railing.
