Nieuwpoort Lighthouse is located in the Belgian town of Nieuwpoort on the right bank of the IJzer estuary. The tower was manned from 1946 until its automation in 1963. The lighthouse keeper lived with his family in a detached house with an annex to the lighthouse from 1 December 1948 to 1 October 1963. He was not only responsible for the proper functioning of the tower, but also operated the foghorn and harbour light
