The black-and-white photograph shows the Leurse Forest in a quiet, almost timeless atmosphere. Tall trees rise on either side of a narrow path that loses itself in the distance. The contrast between light and shadow is strong: sunlight breaks through the canopy and draws soft spots on the forest floor. Without colour, the emphasis comes to lie on shapes, lines and textures, the rough bark of the trunks, the fine pattern of leaves, and the misty air hanging between the branches. The silence seems almost audible; there is a sense of calm, but also a hint of mystery, as if the forest is keeping a secret. The photograph captures not only a landscape, but also a mood: a moment of contemplation and connection with nature, detached from time and season.
