Leipzig’s new town hall, seen from above in its striking vertical format

by ManfredFotos

Leipzig’s New Town Hall, with its imposing tower, takes centre stage in this portrait-format cityscape. From this elevated vantage point, the historic building complex, with its warm red roofs, is surrounded by Leipzig’s dense city centre and expansive green tree canopies. The tall town hall tower immediately draws the eye upwards and forms a striking contrast to the horizontal roof surfaces all around. Small dormers, various building wings and the richly structured roofscape make the ensemble interesting even on closer inspection. Behind the Town Hall, a surprisingly green area opens up before the city stretches on towards the horizon. This layering of the urban foreground, historic architecture, greenery and the distant cityscape lends the photograph exceptional depth. The natural shades of stone, red and green create a balanced, tranquil atmosphere. Thanks to its portrait format, the image is particularly well-suited to narrow wall spaces, corridors or areas between windows. For lovers of Leipzig, architecture enthusiasts and those with a personal connection to the city, the New Town Hall becomes a distinctive symbol of Leipzig and, at the same time, a special memento of the Saxon metropolis.
