On Ginkel Heath in Ede, a landmark commemorates the Airborne Landing on the 18th of September, 1944 at this exact location. The landmark was unveiled on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem in 2019 by veteran John Jeffries.
The landmark is not intended as a monument but rather as a constant reminder of the events in 1944. It gives an impression of the intense fighting during the war.
This photo was taken during a gorgeous sunrise. The exciting colours in the sky reinforce the lines of the landmark.
This place reminds me again and again of the veterans who jumped here and whom I got to know.
Lest we forget.
