The photo shows the massif of the 3 Peaks from the south side. The icy Lago Antorno can be seen in the foreground. The photo was taken in the early morning. The first rays of sunshine colour the few clouds in the sky pink.
The 3 Peaks Dolomites region is located in the east of South Tyrol and is the high valley of the Dolomites - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Three Peaks (Tre Cime di Lavaredo in Italian) are among the most famous peaks in the Alps. They are the symbol of the Dolomites and Alta Pusteria.
The striking mountain range is located in the Sesto Dolomites on the border between the Italian provinces of Belluno in the south and South Tyrol in the north. The highest peak in the group is the 2999 metre-high Große Zinne. The Three Peaks region is home to spectacular hiking trails and impressive landscapes.
Lago Antorno is located in the immediate vicinity of the larger and better-known Lake Misurina. The toll road from Misurina up to the Three Peaks leads directly past the small lake. It lies at an altitude of 1,866 metres above sea level.
