About ‘Kurhaus Scheveningen’ by Evert Buitendijk

Kurhaus (Scheveningen) The Steigenberger Kurhaus Hotel, often called Kurhaus for short, is a large hotel between Gevers Deynootplein and the boulevard along Scheveningen beach. It has over 250 rooms. In 1818, Jacob Pronk founded a wooden pavilion with a bathhouse on Verlengde Badhuisstraat. In 1828, on the mayor's initiative, a much larger 'Stedelijk Badhuis' in classicist style was built, called Grand Hôtel des Bains after a design by city architect Zeger Reyers. The Stedelijk Badhuis was so successful that in 1856 it was decided to expand the bathhouse. Between 1884 and 1885, the Kurhaus was built on the same site. After a fierce fire, it was rebuilt between 1886 and 1887. It was designed by German architects Johann Friedrich Henkenhaf and Friedrich Ebert. From 1858-1882, Jhr mr François Gerard Abraham Gevers Deynoot was mayor of The Hague. The square in front of the Kurhaus was named after him in 1891. Scheveningen station, opened on 1 May 1907, was located near the Kurhaus and was originally named Scheveningen Kurhaus. The station was in use until 4 October 1953, when the branch of the Hofplein line to Scheveningen was discontinued. At Gevers Deynootplein was the terminus, among others, of tram line 8. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
