Kite-flying at the Castle – Old Masters by Peter Pen Drawings and Paintings

A poetic historical painting, featuring soft shades of beige, grey and earth tones with a misty, nostalgic atmosphere; a vertical artwork suitable for the living room, children’s bedroom and master bedroom.

Two children of noble birth are flying a large kite together in an open field in front of a stately Baroque castle. The wind plays with their 18th-century clothing whilst the kite soars high against a cloudy sky. The distant castle, the morning mist and the subdued palette of warm beige, taupe, misty grey and dark brown lend the scene a romantic, almost dreamlike quality. The classical setting is reminiscent of an Old Master painting, whilst the children’s enthusiastic play provides the characteristic touch of humour. An atmospheric and narrative work of art about freedom, youth and adventure, with sufficient calm in the composition to stand up well even when displayed in a large format.
