This work shows Kingia Australis plants on a plain in the Stirling Range National Park, Western Australia. The Kingia is a peculiar plant endemic to Australia. The plant looks like a tree, but has a thick pseu-trunk consisting of accumulated leaf bases topped by a cluster of long, slender leaves. The yellow trees stand out brightly against a muted, almost black and white landscape, creating a striking contrast. Dark, ominous clouds loom over the landscape, while other trees can be seen in the landscape. The work has a dramatic feel. The de-saturated colours in the surroundings emphasise the vibrant colours of the Kingia plants and focus the viewer's attention.
