It is tricky photographing kingfishers here on Noord-Beveland. To my knowledge, they do not breed around here and so I cannot go and post at a place where they feed the young. Because kingfishers go roaming after breeding season, I sometimes see them around here. There is just no fixed spot then with a guarantee that they will appear there within a reasonable time. And so a few years ago (together with my daughter), I planted a perch in a ditch at a spot where I once saw one. That perch has now been discovered (after 2 years!) by a female that has been hanging around here for a few days now. I made a small peephole in the reeds of that ditch and parked the car on the land behind it. The kingfisher came very close and I was able to take several photos's. She even caught another freshwater prawn and also this stickleback.
