Kerkstraat from Den Halder Valkenburg aan de Geul
From Den Halder, the medieval town castle on the Geul river, a characteristic view unfolds over the Kerkstraat in Valkenburg aan de Geul. The street winds between old facades of marlstone, where light and shadow play on the walls that carry centuries of history.
In the soft light, Valkenburg shows its most recognisable face here - warm, intimate and full of charm. The facades breathe craftsmanship, the paving stones gleam with time and use, and above all there is an atmosphere of tranquillity that contrasts with the lively heart of the city.
From this vantage point, time seems to stand still for a moment. The tower of the church rises in the distance, surrounded by the warm hues of the Limburg landscape. Every stone, every bend of the street tells a story of past and renewal, of a city that cherishes its history but looks to the future with open eyes.
The sculpture captures the essence of Valkenburg: a city of light, stone and memory. A place where culture and nature come together, and where the past is still tangible in every ray of sunshine that glides past the facades.
