One of Duisburg's landmarks has disappeared. The old Karl Lehr Bridge no longer exists.
The OB Karl-Lehr Bridge is one of the most important transport routes for Duisburg. It is one of only three north-south access routes across the Ruhr in the city centre. Above all, however, the bridge is the main artery for Duisburg harbour and logistics traffic in the city. Built in 1949 with a section of the Hohenzollern Bridge in Cologne, the bridge was no longer able to cope with the current traffic. The entire bridge is being replaced in a project lasting several years. The old bridge was demolished and replaced by a new one.
