KLM Boeing 777-300 taxiing to Polderbaan.
Registration: PH-BVS.
Aircraft name: National Park Darien.
Darien National Park forms a bridge between the two continents of the New World. It stretches along about 80% of the border with Colombia and includes part of the Pacific coast. This park contains an exceptional variety of habitats: sandy beaches, rocky shores, mangroves, swamps and lowland and highland tropical forests. The forests are home to many unusual wildlife such as giant anteaters, leopards, tapirs and caiman crocodiles. The area is important both anthropologically and historically because of two major indigenous groups: the Choco and Kuna Indians and a number of smaller groups that still live according to traditional customs.
In 2008, KLM added the Boeing 777-300ER to its fleet. This type of aircraft is a longer version of the 777-200ER. The engines of the Boeing 777 produce as much as 175,000 hp.
