KLM Boeing 777-200 "Nahanni National Park" (PH-BQN) This aircraft belongs to KLM Asia. KLM Asia is a subsidiary of KLM that was established in 1995 with the aim of being able to start flights to Taipei (Taiwan). In 1995, the People's Republic of China did not give landing permission to airlines that also flew to Taiwan, which they consider part of China. To get around this problem, KLM established a subsidiary registered in Taiwan that operates flights to Taipei. KLM Asia's aircraft are painted in the parent company's colours and carry the name "KLM Asia". Although they carry the KLM logo, the crown is missing. This legal construction allows KLM to keep the Chinese authorities friendly by claiming it does not fly to Taiwan itself. The same construction is also used by airlines from other countries, such as British Asia Airways, Air France Asia, Japan Asia Airways (subsidiary of Japan Airlines International) and Swissair Asia. This triple 7 landed at the Polderbaan, a picture taken on 2 February 2014.
