Japanese Autumn Still Life: Branches with Red Maple Leaves in a Vase with Gold Accents

by Studio Pieternel

● Exclusive design for Werk aan de Muur / Art Heroes

Bring an atmosphere of serene elegance and Japanese finesse into your home with this beautiful still life. This piece is an artistic ode to autumn and combines classic aesthetics with contemporary flair.

The centrepiece is a beautiful, soft-green celadon porcelain vase with a polished gold base. The vase holds branches of a Japanese maple (Momiji), whose deep red, star-shaped leaves look vibrant and natural. The background is an abstract blend of a textured concrete-effect wall and a large, radiant golden disc (a reference to the sun). The right-hand side is bordered by a panel in deep blue-green (teal/jade) featuring stylised golden branch patterns.

This piece is a perfect example of mixed media art and a modern interpretation of the traditional Kintsugi concept (beauty in imperfection). It combines painterly textures (the concrete and teal effects) with metallic accents (the golden disc and the vase base). The style strikes a balance between Wabi-Sabi simplicity and the sophistication of Japandi design. This still life fits seamlessly with the most popular interior design trends: Japandi & Wabi-Sabi: It celebrates the beauty of natural seasonal changes, imperfect textures and tranquil composition.

Gold- & Metallic Accents: The gold-coloured elements add a sense of luxury and depth, perfect for enhancing a space.

Natural Elements & Colour: The deep red of the maple leaves provides a warm contrast to the cool celadon and teal tones, bringing warmth into the home. This piece is a timeless work that exudes tranquillity, warmth and luxury. Perfect as a statement piece in a living room, bedroom or office.
