Japandi still life with orange berries in an earthenware vase by Studio Pieternel

● Exclusive design for Werk aan de Muur / Art Heroes

This serene design exudes the tranquillity of the Japandi interior style, where Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese aesthetics come together. The piece depicts a graceful branch with warm orange berries, which contrasts beautifully with the understated, earthy tones of the background (Japanese silk) and the robust, hand-formed earthenware vase. An abstract, rust-red circle in the background subtly references Japanese culture and adds a contemporary graphic element to the composition.

This design fits perfectly into a modern, minimalist interior where tranquillity and tactile materials take centre stage. The combination of the branch’s natural forms and the textured surface of the vase creates a calm, harmonious atmosphere that aligns perfectly with the current trend of mindful living.

The colour palette of beige, sandy tones and warm orange is very accessible and combines effortlessly with materials such as light wood, linen and stone. Whether hung in the living room, study or bedroom, this piece brings a sense of serenity and refinement to any space.
