Japandi portrait of a woman

by AidasignArt

This artwork depicts the head of an attractive young woman, viewed from the front, which stands out in a sculptural, three-dimensional manner from a wall of cubes. Through the impasto technique and harmonious colour palette characteristic of the Japandi style, the piece combines modern elegance with timeless tranquillity. A stylish pair of glasses frames her clear, large eyes, which immediately meet the viewer’s gaze and lend the composition a distinctive presence.

The cubes, some of which are deliberately imperfect in keeping with the Japandi and wabi-sabi aesthetics, appear to emerge in a seemingly haphazard manner from the wall structure. Some elements are rendered in impasto paint, whilst others are reminiscent of linen, fabric or natural stone. This creates a fascinating interplay of materiality, texture and spatial depth.

This painting forms the central piece of a three-part triptych. Whilst the two accompanying portraits each show the woman in side profile, here her gaze is directed straight ahead, creating the serene focal point of the series. The work can make an extraordinary impact in a room, whether as a standalone art object or in combination as a diptych or complete triptych.
