About the artwork

"Winter Landscape" by Isaac van Ostade from 1645 is a lively winter scene depicting rural life in the 17th century. In the foreground, several people are engaged in daily activities. A man sits on a sledge pulled by a horse, while another man pushes a sledge carrying a child. On the right, a group of people is gathered at a house with a thatched roof, where a woman stands with a child on her arm.

In the background, we see people having fun on the ice, skating and enjoying the winter fun. The painter has paid great attention to details, such as the people's clothing and the texture of the frozen water. The sky is cloudy and grey, adding to the cold and wintery atmosphere of the painting.

Isaac van Ostade's work is a beautiful depiction of everyday life and social interactions in a winter setting, and his skills in capturing both human figures and the landscape are evident in this painting.

Isaac Jansz. van Ostade (baptised Haarlem, 2 June 1621 - buried there, 16 October 1649) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman belonging to the Dutch School. As a painter, he was active in Haarlem from 1629. In 1643, he was admitted to the Haarlem Guild of St Luke. About'100 paintings by Van Ostade are known, including mainly genre pieces, landscapes and portraits.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
