The Golestan Palace in the Iranian capital of Tehran is a Kad years palace complex and the former residence of the Shah of Persia. The complex is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. After the fall of the Kadjaren dynasty, Reza Pahlavi (1878-1944) had a large part of the complex (such as the entire harem section) demolished and had simple government buildings built on it. The famous peacock throne is kept in this palace. The palace has been a museum since the fall of the Shah in 1979.
