In the breath of the stars: Wat Phra That Sorn Kaew

by Walter G. Allgöwer

In the heart of the mountains of Phetchabun, Wat Phra That Sorn Kaew rises like a dream of glass and light. Between the golden stupas and the silent Buddha figures, green, blue and red glowing glass threads float as if woven from the breath of the stars. They are reminiscent of the delicate umbrellas of dandelion seeds, but here they carry the weight of prayer and silence, of the longing for enlightenment.
The light pulsates like a silent meditation, spreading like waves in the cosmic ocean. Blue like the depths of the mind, green like the hope of renewal, red like the fire of devotion. Each ray seems to form a bridge between heaven and earth, between the fleeting and the eternal.
The temple complex itself, richly decorated with mosaics and mirrors, becomes a resonance chamber for these colours. They are reflected, multiplied, transforming the space into a universe of light. Those who linger here feel the boundaries blurring: between nature and technology, between man and the cosmos, between the moment and eternity.
Thus, Wat Phra That Sorn Kaew becomes not only a place of worship, but a gateway to infinity – a temple that shines like a star in the heart of Asia.
