The Polders or the Polder Plain is a geographical region in Flanders. It lies behind the dunes to an average of about fifteen kilometers inland and is, as the name says, formed from polders. The region stretches from French Flanders (around Dunkirk) over the immediate hinterland of the Belgian coast, all of Zeeland Flanders, north of Eeklo, the Waasland and the northwest corner of the province of Antwerp. The area is characterized by its flat and rural character, crossed by a network of canals to drain the land. In addition, the fragmentation of the landscape is striking: zonal homes and other buildings are scattered across the countryside.
I took the picture on a slightly cloudy summer day.
