About ‘Illuminated windmills Kinderdijk’ by Nicolette Eekhof

Once a year, the windmills at Kinderdijk are illuminated. This is a huge spectacle in the region, people come from far and wide to admire the illuminated mills. The Kinderdijk mills were built to pump up water from the low-lying polder. Under each mill is a scoop wheel, which brings the water up, often with a height difference of 140cm.

Original created by Nicolette Eekhof.
