Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

Beta feature. You need an AR-capable device (a recent iPhone/iPad or Android). The AR view is only an indication; colour, size and finish may differ in reality.

About ‘Ikaros’ by Marc SMEETS

Icarus and his father Daidalos were held captive in Crete by King Minos. To escape, they build wings from feathers fixed in wax. Because the wax can melt, Daidalos warns Ikaros not to fly too high and close to the sun, but not too low either, because the wings would become too heavy from the seawater. However, Ikaros is reckless, he flies too high so that the wax melts and he falls into the sea.

The story of Icarus is about human pride, the 'hybris'.

In the photo, Ikaros is in doubt between his desire to fly as high as possible and his fear of falling if he gets too close to the sun. This fear is perpetual in our society that is raising the bar, making more and more demands of the individual confronted with the fear of not being able to meet the demands of society, the threat of burnout, the FOMO ...
