Icelandic horses, and the national park the Kampina are almost inseparable. Every time I walk the paths here, I see some beautiful specimens in the distance. Sometimes they stand in the middle of the path, and although you can easily walk between them, I usually step aside.
When the Kampina was flooded by heavy rainfall, I took a walk here. Large pieces of heathland and the normally somber part of the Kampina were now completely under water. Because of the almost windless weather the water was like a mirror in many places.
When I saw four horses standing near such a perfect reflection I looked for a nice spot to capture the horses and their reflection. Unfortunately, they were a little too far from the edge to make a compelling photo.
I decided to wait and see what the horses would do. They were mainly grazing, but slowly, one by one they began to wade through the water. I was in the right place, to be able to capture the horses nicely.
