IJmuiden locks in black and white
Located at the mouth of the North Sea Canal, IJmuiden is one of the Netherlands' most important seaports. The port city plays a crucial role in Dutch shipping, with cargo ships, fishing boats and recreational boats arriving and departing daily. IJmuiden's maritime character is enhanced by its imposing sea locks, which provide access to the canal beyond and Amsterdam.
IJmuiden's sea locks, including the recently opened Sea Lock IJmuiden - the largest in the world - are an impressive feat of hydraulic engineering. They connect the North Sea to inland waters and ensure the efficient flow of shipping traffic, regardless of the tide.
In black-and-white photography, the port area takes on a timeless, almost poetic character. The sharp contrasts and grey tones emphasise the robust structures of cranes, docks, tugs and the locks themselves. The dramatic skies and the play of light and shadow capture the raw beauty of seafaring and industry. Old fishing vessels, rusty containers and misty mornings take on a nostalgic and documentary feel in black and white, seamlessly merging the port's past and present.

Always on adventure and looking for industrial landscapes and details. And I do a lot of street photography. Walking through the streets, old villages and city centers.
I photograph mainly with an analogue Yashica 635 and a Ricoh AF 5.
