ICONSIAM in a sea of lights by Walter G. Allgöwer

From Wat Saket, the Golden Mountain, night spreads over Bangkok like a silken veil. Below me, the city glows in a thousand windows, as if someone had picked stars and scattered them between concrete and glass. The skyline breathes quietly, a shimmering sea of light stretching to the dark horizon.
In the heart of the Bang Rak district, hotels and office towers rise like silent guardians. Their facades reflect the blue of the tropical night, interspersed with golden lines that look like flowing thoughts. In between, the curved ribbon of ICONSIAM shines brightly and confidently on the banks of the invisible river. It looks like a modern fairytale castle, built of light instead of stone.
The sounds of the city rise up muffled – a distant murmur of engines, the whisper of air-conditioned rooms, the distant laughter from a bar high above the streets. And yet there is an unexpected calm over everything. Bangkok at night is not chaos, but a beating heart, steady and warm.
Above the towers stretches the sky of Thailand, deep and velvety. Between the moon and the neon lights, time seems to stand still – as if the city were dreaming for a moment before the morning sets it in motion again.
