I Love You – The Art of Korean Romance, Written on Checked Paper

by Hilde Remerie – Digital Art, Bauhaus & Photography

‘Ik Hou van Jou’ is a loving and minimalist typographic artwork that brings together Korean characters, handwritten text and a simple red heart. At the top is the Korean text for ‘Love You’, rendered in a clean and bold typeface. Below that is the English text ‘Love You’ in a relaxed, handwritten style. At the bottom, a small red heart completes the message.

The soft cream and beige background features a delicate chequered pattern. This gives the artwork the recognisable look of a drawing from a school exercise book or lecture notebook. The combination of the graphic Korean script with the playful handwriting creates an interesting contrast between sleek and personal.

The colour palette has been deliberately kept subdued. The light paper colour forms the base, whilst the dark script and the warm red of the heart provide clear accents. This ensures the artwork remains minimalist and subtle, yet the romantic message is immediately recognisable.

‘Ik Hou van Jou’ is a lovely choice as a heartfelt wall decoration for the bedroom, living room, hall or a personal workspace. The artwork fits well within a modern, minimalist, Scandinavian or Japandi interior and can easily be combined with natural materials and neutral colours.

This text art is suitable for anyone who loves romantic art, Korean typography, minimalist posters and personalised wall décor. The combination of ‘Love You’, the Korean script and the simple heart makes the piece a warm and timeless declaration of love on the wall.
