Hunebeds are structures made of megaliths. They were carried from Scandinavia 150,000 years ago during the penultimate Ice Age by an ice crust a kilometre thick, which covered the Netherlands from the north to the line between Leiden and Nijmegen. When the ice melted again, the stones were left behind as fine building material.
