About the artwork

The picture shows a residential complex in shades of white and blue. They are balconies and bay windows. Everything is different, including the windows. And yet it looks like a good whole.
This building is in Valletta, the capital of Malta. It is the smallest capital in the European Union by population (about 6,000). Valletta is located on a peninsula, surrounded by two large natural harbours. It is a pre-planned city, which is reflected in the chessboard pattern in which the streets are laid out. The city contains many buildings from the time when the Order of Malta ruled the country and it is surrounded by imposing fortifications. Since 1980, the city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is known for its distinctive bastions, curtain walls and gun emplacements. The city is laid out in a chessboard pattern with straight streets and squares.

Notable are the wooden Arab covered balconies that adorn the facades of the buildings. The city is home to striking structures in Mannerist, Baroque and Neoclassical architecture.
