Track of Memory - Hoorn to Medemblik via Twisk Once upon a time, the locomotive steamed whispering through the West Frisian landscape. From Hoorn, it rolled slowly past meadows, orchards and reed beds, towards Medemblik - a journey not only through space, but also through time.
Twisk, the gem halfway through, greeted the traveller with its quaint streets and thatched farmhouses. The stop was short but memorable: a greeting from a stationmaster, a smell of freshly cut grass, the crunch of wheels on the track.
And then - June 2025. A languid rain settles over the landscape like a soft veil. The rails glisten from the wet steel, the polders turn a deeper green and the water on the windows draws patterns like old lace. Thick clouds drift slowly by like grey giants, shimmering in shades of violet, blue and copper. Each village along the route seems shrouded in hushed melancholy, where the rain kisses memories awake.
No rush, no noise - just the tapping of drops, the whisper of the past, and the promise of stories yet to be told.
Hang this reminder on the wall, and let the murmur of the past gently echo into your present.
