This photo art image poses a number of questions. What caught my eye here is the wall above the wooden doorway. There are three bricked in archways that can be seen. My guess is that the larger one towards the top of the wall would have been the original entrance through the wall, allowing acess for horses. The other two archways come later but whether they existed together or one replaced the other I guess I will never know. But what I really liked here is the repetition of the arch theme, the three arches I have mentioned, the arched doorway and to the right of the image the suggestion of a another archway. This is in Citta della Pieve in Umbria, Tuscany. The town is an old medieval walled town so the streets inside the walls are packed with history.
