The historic Utrecht State Yacht on the River IJssel near Kampen

by Fotografiecor .nl

This artwork captures the historic state yacht ‘Utrecht’ in all its glory, sailing along the mighty River IJssel near Kampen. The ship is bathed in a powerful backlight, transforming its authentic wooden contours into a deep black, iconic silhouette against a dramatic, layered cloudy sky. The unique power of this image lies in the warm, nostalgic sepia tone, complemented by a subtle lens flare from the setting sun, which playfully breaks through behind the mast. On the horizon, the outlines of the Hanseatic city fade away, evoking a sense of timeless wanderlust.

The provincial yacht ‘Utrecht’ is a magnificent symbol of our rich Hanseatic history. Capturing this yacht on the IJssel feels like photographing a living monument. With this image, I wanted to capture the nostalgia of bygone days; the moment when nature and history merge into a single dramatic, golden scene. It is an ode to the craft of sailing and the unforgettable play of light over the IJssel Delta.

This maritime artwork calls for a presentation that does justice to the intense contrast and deep blacks. I recommend a matt aluminium Dibond finish. This non-reflective texture ensures that the details in the sky and the shadows cast by the ship are shown to their best advantage, whilst the sepia tones lend a warm, elegant feel to your interior.

Bring the grandeur of historic sailing into your home and let this timeless silhouette of the IJssel adorn your wall.
