What an art the landscape of Madeira is. This photo was taken during the PR8 Ponta de São Lourenço hike, or headland hike. It is an incredibly famous hike and not surprisingly so. The colours and sharp lines of the rocks make for a beautiful spectacle. The landscape exudes both strength and tranquillity. If you look very closely, you can see people walking along the footpath in the background, which, as a viewer, gives you an even better idea of how big and powerful these rocks really are. The people are suddenly very small and insignificant. The flowers at the bottom of the photo take you to the red and brown of the rocks towards the sea, after which the landscape seems to go on forever. You can almost feel the wind across your arms. For just a moment, you are here on beautiful Madeira.
