Iceland highlights: Solheimasandur plane wreck
After a walk of just under an hour, we arrived at one of Iceland's well-known and iconic plane wrecks: the Solheimasandur plane wreck.
The walk to the plane was very unique. You get the feeling as if you are walking on the moon when you put your feet on the site. You are surrounded by nothing but black sand for about 50 minutes.
Once we arrived at the plane wreck, we meet many tourists. These tourists can also be seen in this composition. We encounter several people playing on and near the plane wreckage, climbing in it or simply standing on it.
From a meaningless plane wreck, this has become a public attraction about ten years ago. We ourselves didn't necessarily see the wreck as a highlight, but we found the walk to it amazing.
Using my drone, I was able to create a lasting memory which I am happy to share. If you have also walked this walk, you will probably recognise the above scenario.
