This photo is from the winter of 2021, when we had a week of hard frost in February. This was just before the ice was thick enough to skate on. That gives a special picture, especially in this period, when a certain pandemic often left the streets looking quite deserted.
Thanks to the low-hanging sunlight, you get a nice contrast between the warm-looking roofs and the cool streets and waterways. In addition, the layer of ice creates a special distortion in the reflections. This gives this classic image of the Der Aa-kerk a special appearance.
