Some gloves on a fence. All these gloves were washed ashore and taken to the beachcomber's museum. Beachcombers used to be just that little bit extra for certain groups so people could get through the winter. Beachcombing was never allowed, but what the beachcomber didn't know you didn't have to declare. Nowadays there is almost no usable material to be found on the beach, it has made way for garbage which many people carelessly throw away. At best it ends up in the beachcomber museum, at worst it ends up in the stomach of one of the many animals that depend on the sea. Many animals die a painful death because they saw something in the water and thought it was food. However, it was something that people had thrown away. It therefore becomes part of the plastic soup, as the sea can almost be called. Actually, these hands must be waving at us to wake us up.
Al sinds de middelbare school (en dat is al een heel tijdje geleden) fotografeer ik. Met mijn krantenwijk een spiegelreflex camera en lenzen aangeschaft. Ook ontwikkelen en afdrukken van de foto's deed ik zelf. Iets wat tegenwoordig bijna niet meer voorkomt.
