Hellevoetsluis Lighthouse is a round, white, brick lighthouse with two floors and a height of 18.1 metres. The tower was designed by J. Valk and built in 1822 by K. van Golverdingen. The tower stands at the harbour entrance to Hellevoetsluis and is located on the Haringvliet. After construction, the tower was fitted with three parabolic reflectors that focused the light. The tower was rebuilt in 1901 and the optics were replaced in 1933. In 1965, the lighthouse was restored. The old optics are part of a small exhibition at Hellevoetsluis' VVV, and the tower is owned by Rijkswaterstaat. In 2005, through the help of the Municipality of Hellevoetsluis and many residents of the town, the restoration of the tower was paid for. A fence was also installed around the tower at that time. The tower is open to the public on a few Sundays in summer and on Open Monument Day.
