?? Heavenly abundance at Wat Pariwat
A golden Buddha sits enthroned in quiet majesty, but your gaze is inevitably drawn upwards. The ceiling of Wat Pariwat in Bangkok, photographed from a frog's perspective, is not a cool, minimalist surface, but an exploding cosmos of colours and figures.
A lush, kaleidoscopic abundance is revealed here, overwhelming every corner of the room. Thousands of small, shiny mosaic tiles and sculptural reliefs form a dense network of mythological and modern narratives.
It is a hymn to non-traditional art that shocks and inspires not through reduction but through radical accumulation. In addition to the traditional Buddhist depictions, this sparkling, almost psychedelic pattern also conceals pop-cultural icons and humorous allusions - a surreal, Asian baroque that fuses the spiritual world with the everyday culture of Thailand. The centre of the ceiling briefly calms the eye with symmetrical, deep blue fields, which are immediately framed again by the moving worlds running around them. The viewer is immersed in a fabulous, dazzling tunnel, at the end of which the golden resting figure of Buddha sets an anchor.
