The heather blue is the smallest butterfly in the Netherlands. The butterfly is commonly seen among the heather and is abundant in the Bargerveen.
The female of the heather blue is more brownish on the underside of the wings. The male, on the other hand, is whiter, and has a blue beginning to the wings.
The Bargerveen is a bog/heathland area in southeastern Drenthe, the Netherlands.
