At 1142 metres above sea level, the Brocken is the highest mountain in the Harz low mountain range, in Saxony-Anhalt and in the whole of northern Germany. It is located in the Schierke district of the town of Wernigerode in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt.
The Leistenklippe (901 metres above sea level) is one of the most famous and popular granite cliffs for hikers in the Harz National Park. It is part of the Hohnekamm, an elongated mountain range between Schierke, Drei Annen Hohne and Wernigerode.
