Every year in spring, millions of bluebells bloom for a short time in the Hallerbos south of Brussels in Belgium. Together with the fresh green of the beech trees, the result is a unique play of colours. As soon as the beech leaves become too dense and too little light reaches the ground, the bluebells fade and retreat into the soil until next spring.
