Haarlem station in black and white: timeless elegance. Haarlem Station, the oldest railway station in the Netherlands, opened its doors in 1839. As a local resident, I felt connected to this place and decided to capture its character with my camera.
For this shot, I deliberately chose the evening hours. The platform is almost deserted then, which makes the architecture come into its own. The available light enhances the atmosphere and emphasizes the rich details of the building. This comes out even more powerfully in black-and-white: lines, contrasts and textures take on a timeless look.
My point of view was chosen with an eye for composition. The large windows and the name "HAARLEM" above the entrance form the visual anchor of the image. The result is a photographic tribute to an iconic piece of Dutch railway history.
After shooting, I edit the images with care and precision so that they are not only technically perfect, but also convey emotion and atmosphere. Each work is printed in Fine-Art quality and is ready to occupy a stylish place on your wall.
