They rise out of the golden sand like stone sentinels: the Pinnacles in Australia's Nambung National Park near Cervantes. These bizarre limestone columns, up to four metres high, look like relics from another world - not created by human hands, but formed by the tireless power of nature over thousands of years.
This impressive image captures not only the spectacular shape of the rock sculptures, but also the fascinating play of light and colour of the desert: ochre-coloured sand meets the rich, contrasting sky. The structure of the limestone, marked by wind and time, appears almost alive - as if the formations were about to start moving at any moment.
The Pinnacles epitomise the untamed beauty of Western Australia. The sight of them inspires wonder, perhaps even awe. Standing here, you can feel how small man is in the face of the geological dimensions - and how big the stories are that the landscape has to tell.
An expressive motif for all those who are enthusiastic about natural wonders, lonely expanses and the magic of the moment - and an eye-catcher that will be a talking point in any room.
I have brought back many photo impressions from my travels. So that you can also enjoy the impressive pictures, I offer selected photos here that can be printed on canvas, as posters, on acrylic glass and even more media. For more travel inspiration, visit my website.. Read more…
