The Raumberg in the distance is another prominent landscape point in Saxon Switzerland. Unlike the surrounding area, it consists of basalt, among other things, a much more resistant material than sandstone. This is how the mountain was able to form, while the sandstone surroundings were much more eroded by the weather.
