About ‘Greenwich Foot Tunnel’ by Gerry van Roosmalen
The Greenwich Foot tunnel under the River Thames. The tunnel connects Greenwich to Millwal. The tunnel was designed by Alexander Binnie. Construction began in 1899. The tunnel opened on 4 August 1902. The tunnel replaced the expensive and unreliable ferry.
